My Rotting Place This song details the life of a serial killer who has been one step ahead of the law for some time and when he finally makes a mistake, he is apprehended. While being put to death using lethal injection, he makes excuses to his executors about why he was killing, blaming it on society and parenting. Silent Torture This song describes the terrifying phenomenon known as operative awareness. Many true stories have been told from medical patients about being conscious and paralyzed while on the operating table. Many tales describe the painful feelings of the scalpel cutting at flesh and organs. Some patients even explain times when they can hear and comprehend conversations between doctors. All of this occurring while they physically can't communicate or move to avoid the extreme pain. Nocturnal Visions This song depicts the frightening concept of killing in your sleep. It was inspired by a true story that happened when a man killed someone while sleeping. After thinking he was dreaming, he woke to the reality that he had killed after seeing his hands covered in blood. How would you explain this one to the judge and jury? From Deep Within This was the first song written by Affliction. It is about a group of demons who rise from deep within the earth to wreak havoc on innocent souls. A battle ensues between good and evil with the dark side eventually winning out. Most of our lyrics are about life and death - this was our one "dark fantasy" song. Ignited Soul This song was inspired by the mysterious phenomenon called spontaneous human combustion. There have been many true reports about people actually bursting into flames and burning to ash. One interesting detail about this is that it has never actually been seen by someone else. The song describes someone watching this for the first time, witnessing the ruthless force of this fiery death and how powerful and true it really is. We just hope that this does not happen to you! Control Everyone has things in life that are beyond their control. But there are some people that choose to be controlled by others instead of thinking for themselves. The lyrics to this song express the frustration of dealing with some of these people and situations. Forgotten World This song is the story of a man who has an auto accident and falls into an amnesia state. Once he regains consciousness, he cannot remember his own family or friends. The song illustrates the horrible idea of a person living out his life without recognizing the people who made him happy. All he really wants to do is die, so he can hope to know them again in another world. Lie In It Lie In It is about life today and how we have so many choices to make that directly affect how our lives turn out. If you make the wrong choices, you have made your own bed in a sense and you have to lie in it... Suicide Mission This song portrays the horrible terrorist mind and what they desire to do in life and that is kill to please their religion. Obviously this song was inspired by the cowardly acts of 9/11 and it’s premise is too give people a horrific view into the mind of these killers of innocence.
